UGC NET December 2025 – Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have a Master’s Degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Third gender).
- Those who are appearing in their final year of Master’s or awaiting results can also apply provisionally.
- Ph.D. holders who completed their Master’s before 19 September 1991 get a 5% relaxation.
- Students with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree can also apply for JRF or Ph.D. admission, depending on their results and eligibility.
Age Limit
- JRF: Not more than 30 years as on 1 December 2025.
- Age relaxation up to 5 years for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Women candidates.
- Assistant Professor/Ph.D. Admission: No upper age limit.
UGC NET December 2025 – Exam Pattern
The exam has two papers, conducted together in one session (3 hours).

UGC NET December 2025 – Reservation Policy
As per the Government of India, the reservation in Central Universities and Institutions is:
- SC – 15%
- ST – 7.5%
- OBC-NCL – 27%
- EWS – 10%
- PwD/PwBD – 5% horizontal reservation
UGC NET December 2025 – Admit Card
The Admit Card will be released on the NTA website. Candidates can download it using their application number and date of birth. It will include the exam date, shift, time, and exam centre.

UGC NET December 2025 – Result and Cut-off
- Results will be declared on the official NTA website after evaluation.
- The qualifying cut-off for:
- General/EWS: Minimum 40% aggregate marks (Paper I + II).
- Reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Third gender): Minimum 35% aggregate marks.
- Final results are prepared after normalization (if multiple shifts) using percentile scores.
